EDUCATION
South Coast Head Start classes offer your child a wonderful preschool experience. Your child will learn skills that will help her/him be successful in kindergarten.
HEALTH & NUTRITION
Children will receive nutritious meals each day they attend class. Parents are encouraged to join in family style meals. All Head Start children receive health, dental and developmental screenings. Families are assisted in locating appropriate community resources and referrals.
FAMILY SERVICES
South Coast Head Start supports families with information, education and referrals. Family Services staff may provide support in emergencies and assist parents seeking help in meeting family or personal goals.
FAMILY SERVICE CENTER
The goal of the Family Service Center is to increase self-sufficiency within Head Start families. Specialists in the areas of literacy, employability, parenting, and prevention assist parents in defining and achieving their personal goals.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Parents are encouraged and welcomed to participate in all areas of the program. Parents are decision makers, volunteers, group and committee members. The Parent Policy Council, an advisory board, is comprised of parent representatives from each class and is an important part of program planning and development.

Your childs turns 3 or 4 before September, you meet Federal income eligibility guidelines, and local program eligibility criteria.

South Coast Head Start supports families with young children in their quest for a brighter future.
South Coast Head Start offers a comprehensive social service and preschool program for three and four year old children and their families. The program is funded by both state and federal grants and is provided at no cost to families.
Head Start provides activities for children that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. The program supports parents as the first and most important teacher of their children.
